MR. NGUYEN TUAN PHAT IS RECOGNIZED BY THE LEGAL 500 AND ASIAN LEGAL BUSINESS (ALB) MAGAZINES AS A PROMINENT ENERGY LAWYER IN VIETNAM. HE PREVIOUSLY SERVED AS A LEGAL ADVISOR FOR EVN-PECC3, AND HE IS CURRENTLY RECOGNIZED AS AN EXPERT IN THE ENERGY SECTOR AND INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT DISPUTE RESOLUTION AT ICSID.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Phat regularly advises both the private and public sectors on high-profile and complex cross-border energy matters. For the private sector, Mr. Phat frequently acts as counsel in complex Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract disputes. For the public sector, he advises key governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice, on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) related to PPAs and major energy infrastructure projects.

Some of the major and important clients that Mr. Phat has advised and supported with their projects in Vietnam include Asia Clean Capital (Gresham House), Export Development Canada, Ørsted, VinGroup, Goldman Sachs, The Blue Circle Group, and many other major clients.

In terms of knowledge sharing, Mr. Phat regularly delivers specialized training programs on energy market mechanisms and PPA dispute resolution for the Center for Research, Training and Consultancy in Electricity and Energy Market (under the Electricity Authority of Vietnam – ERAV / MOIT).

Mr. Phat is also a strategic adviser to the Government of Vietnam, including state corporations such as EVN and PVN, on the national energy transition roadmap, contributing directly to the drafting and revision of crucial legislation such as the Law on Electricity and the Law on Petroleum. Drawing on his experience as the former Vice-Chair of the Green Growth Sector Committee under EuroCham Vietnam, he regularly advises authorities on green transition frameworks, including the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
